2011 Kaiken Mendoza Malbec

May 09, 2013 - Tags:

I picked up this lovely 2011 Kaizen Malbec (Mendoza, Argentina) at the LCBO for around $15 in the Vintages section. We opened it last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. This is a great wine and highly recommended.  Deep ruby red, great character, cherry flavour dominates, and it has a great finish. I am so looking forward to having the second half of the bottle tonight.

Cheers!

2006 Pipe Down from Organized Crime

This past weekend, a friend dropped in with an interesting bottle of wine she picked up while driving through the Niagara wine region (thanks, Genine). The 2006 Pipe Down is a blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Syrah, and 10% Petit Verdot, aged 16 months in French oak casks.

Life is too short. Hopefully I won't get too many arguments there. If you don't believe me, have a look at your watch ticking away the seconds, hours, days . . . Tick. Tick. Tick. Tock.   Good. We're all in agreement then. Let's take that idea one step further -- life is too short to drink cheap wine. A friend gave me a button from the Seagram museum with that very sentiment. There used to be a URL to the Seagram Museum page, but sadly, that marvellous building has been closed. Seems that just not enough people were interested. Alas.
